Introduction:

Pabna Textile Engineering College is one of reputed engineering educational institutes in Bangladesh and operates under the faculty of Engineering & Technology of University of Rajshahi.

Educational Constitution is under the University of Rajshahi , Science Facalty. People's Republic of Bangladesh.

It is a Government run Organization Under "Ministry of Jute and Textile " and course curriculum is run by "University of Rajshahi"British Government established "Weaving School" in 1925 which is now modified to "Pabna Textile Engineering College"25 jun 1926 Governor of British Government visited Weaving School.In 1980 Government of that time Changed it's name to " District Textile Institute" In 1993-1994 it's name changed to "Diploma in Textile Technology" Finally 17 march 2007 new door opened by inaugurating "Pabna Textile Engineering College" by "Secretary Md. Abdur Rashid Sharkar" of ministry of "Jute and Textile" of Bangladesh Government. In order meet the challenge of increasing demand of new sophisticated and latest technology, Govt. decided to upgrade this institution yo B.Sc. in textile engineering college. in 2006 to offer four(4)years bachelor degree in textile engineering by affiliation with the UNIVERSITY OF RAJSHAHI. Then renamed it as "PABNA TEXTILE ENGINEERING COLLEGE" Now 240 students of different years are studying in textile engineering course with satisfaction. Latest machinaries of different laboratories and textile related books in our library help the students to acquire knowledge of modern technology worthily.

The technological knowledge and skills of Textile engineers are highly valued by textile manufacturing companies. The industry realizes that its future depend upon the quality of its technology and managers, because the quality of product and productivity play the vital role for exporting garments. Our graduates play a great role in quality production & management. As a result export in garments sector now a days reached about 76% of the total export of the country. The majority of textile graduates take up posts in the Textile Manufacturing Industry as Process or Plant Managers, Development Engineers or Technologists. Recent graduates have found employment in the areas of Production Management, Design, Textile Testing & Quality Assurance, New Product Development, Buying House, Commercial Banks, Customs etc. At present there is a huge demand of textile engineers in Bangladesh.

General Admission Procedure and Entry Requirements:::

Admission to the College of Textile Engineering & Technology is highly competitive and needs a high academic attainment in S.S.C and H.S.C level. Selection of the student for admission is made through admission test of 200 marks. Students get chance to take admission according to merit.

The entry requirements for admission test are:

« Students must be Bangladeshi by birth. « Passed S.S.C. (Sc) with first division / GPA 4.0 from any Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education or equivalent. « Passed H.S.C (Sc) or equivalent examination of the current academic year obtaining at least GPA 3.0 and on an average at least 3.75 but individually not below grade B in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students passed intermediate past academic year can also apply. « Students must obtain S.S.C (Sc) & H.S.C. (Sc) GPA total of 7.5.

Admission of Foreign Students: Foreign students must apply well in advance through their respective embassies in Bangladesh to the Ministry of Education, Govt. of Bangladesh, enclosing evidence of examination passed and transcript of academic records. Five seats are recovered for SAARC countries.
